1. Go to www.cnn.com/video
2. Choose one of the video news stories.  It must be AT LEAST 2 minutes long.
3. Watch and listen.  Watch and listen again, and again, and again (if you must).
4. Write a summary/response on the CNN worksheet that includes the following information: (example)
1. Title: “Earthquake in Japan!”
2. Time: 2:58
3. Summary (bullet points, short sentences/phrases are fine)

                                                              i.      A tremendous earthquake hit Japan causing massive damage

                                                            ii.      There was a tsunami warning

                                                          iii.      Many people fear radiation

4. Response (write about any or all of the following: your feelings/reactions - angry, happy, touched, surprised/shocked, humorous, etc. - to this story; why you chose this story; has it changed your opinion about something?; what you learned; etc.)

I felt so saddened and shocked for the people of Japan, especially those who lost loved ones.  It reminds me of what could happen here in the Bay Area at any moment…

5. Bring your worksheet to class and be prepared to share and discuss your chosen video and response.
1. Tell your group members which video you chose and what it was about
2. Share your response (try not to read your notes, but instead, just talk and have a conversation)
